Factores asociados a crisis asmática en pacientes hospitalizados en el servicio de pediatría, en un hospital de Lima, 2024
Abstract
Introducción: El asma es considerada mundialmente como una de las
patologías crónicas con mayor prevalencia a nivel global y los niños
son particularmente vulnerables. Las exacerbaciones del asma,
conocidas como ataques de asma, pueden provocar hospitalización y
necesidades de cuidados intensivos, especialmente entre las
poblaciones pediátricas. En Lima, las hospitalizaciones pediátricas por
asma han mostrado una tendencia creciente, lo que destaca la
necesidad urgente de comprender mejor los factores contribuyentes.
Objetivo: Este estudio se centró en identificar y analizar los factores
asociados a las crisis asmáticas en pacientes hospitalizados en el
servicio de pediatría, en un hospital de Lima durante 2023. Métodos:
Se empleó un diseño observacional retrospectivo y analítico, utilizando
datos de historias clínicas electrónicas de 72 pacientes, divididos en
casos (pacientes asmáticos con crisis asmática) y controles (pacientes
asmáticos sin crisis asmática). Resultados: Entre los hallazgos más
resaltantes se evidenció que la comorbilidad de eccemas (p=0,006
OR=11,66), antecedente de asma en padres (p=0,001 OR=6,20), la
falta de uso de corticoides inhalados (p=0,000 OR=7,33) y tener
menos de 3 controles anuales (p=0,004 OR=4,20), fueron factores
significativamente asociados a las crisis de asmáticas. Conclusión: Se
determinó que las crisis asmáticas están asociadas a factores como la
comorbilidad de eccemas, antecedentes de asma en los padres, la
falta de uso de corticoides inhalados y tener menos de 3 controles
anuales por consultorio externo.
