LA CRIOTERAPIA ORAL COMO TRATAMIENTO NO FARMACOLÓGICO PARA LA PREVENCIÓN DE MUCOSITIS ORAL EN PACIENTES CON QUIMIOTERAPIA POR CÁNCER

Revisión sistemática de 10 artículos científicos encontrados sobre eficacia de la crioterapia oral en la prevención de la mucositis oral inducida por quimioterapia, los cuales fueron hallados en las bases de datos Lilacs, Scielo, Medline, Pubmed; y fueron analizados según la escala Grade para determinar fuerza y calidad de evidencia. Resultados: Se analizaron 10 artículos, de los cuales 50% fueron Ensayos controlados aleatorizados, 20% revisiones retrospectivas, 20% revisiones sistemáticas; y 10% correspondió a un trabajo experimental. 100% de los artículos concluyeron que la crioterapia oral es efectiva en la disminución de incidencia y la severidad de la mucositis producida por quimioterapia, con un 50% para quimioterapia con 5 fluoracilo y 50% para quimioterapia con melfalán. Conclusiones: La crioterapia oral administrada antes, durante y después de la administración de 5 fluoracilo en bolo y dosis altas de melfalán en pacientes sometidos a autotransplante de células madre es efectiva en disminución de la incidencia y la severidad de la mucositis oral. No se demuestra efectividad con otros citostáticos como: metotrexate y edrexato.
