    Satisfacción percibida en relación a la automedicación para COVID-19 en usuarios de 5 boticas aledañas al Hospital María Auxiliadora Lima, 2021

    A society with physically or mentally ill members has fewer relational goods. In 2020, the world was surprised by a new coronavirus that causes the highly contagious disease COVID-19. The disease spread across all continents, becoming a challenge for the scientific community and health systems. The objective of this study was to determine how self-medication for COVID-19 relates to perceived satisfaction among users of five drugstores adjacent to the María Auxiliadora Hospital in Lima, 2021. The methodology was a non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The population consisted of 200 users from five drugstores located near the María Auxiliadora Hospital. These users were evaluated to determine their perceived satisfaction regarding COVID-19 self-medication. Results showed that, based on sociodemographic factors, 63.5% of the participants were aged 18–29, 54.5% were female, and 54.5% had a higher education degree. The associated causes for self-medication included sore throat (44.5%), nasal congestion (30.5%), cough (25.0%), headache (43.0%), general discomfort (29.0%), fever (30.0%), and respiratory difficulty (4.0%). The most used medications for COVID-19 were paracetamol (75.5%), azithromycin (31.5%), ivermectin (23.5%), ibuprofen (21.0%), dexamethasone (18.5%), and ASA (9.5%). The study concluded that self-medication for COVID-19 is not significantly related to perceived satisfaction among users of five drugstores adjacent to the María Auxiliadora Hospital in Lima, 2021.
