The management and insertion of a central venous catheter (CVC) are necessary procedures in Intensive Care Units; however, when preventive measures are not applied, their use is associated with a significant risk of healthcare-associated infections. This study aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being by providing safeguards to strengthen infection control and the quality of nursing care for critically ill patients. In this context, the research aims to: determine the level of knowledge regarding catheterization and the prevention practices of intensive care nurses at a national hospital in Metropolitan Lima, 2026. The study will be conducted using a quantitative, applied, non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional design. The population will consist of nursing staff specializing in intensive care, and the sample will be obtained through non-probability convenience sampling. Data will be collected using a structured questionnaire on knowledge level and a checklist of preventive practices, both instruments validated by expert judgment and with adequate reliability. Descriptive and inferential statistics (Spearman's rho if the normality results are nonparametric, or Pearson's r if they are parametric) will be used to describe and analyze the variables and establish the predominant relationship(s) between them.application/pdfspahttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/PacientesPatientsCuidados CríticosCritical CareAtención de EnfermeríaNursing CareConocimiento de cateterización y práctica de prevención de enfermeros en cuidados intensivos de un hospital nacional de Lima Metropolitana 2026Knowledge of catheterization and prevention practices of nurses in intensive care at a national hospital in metropolitan lima 2026http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fhttps://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#3.03.03https://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#3.02.08ODS 3: Salud y bienestar.
