This secondary study, entitled “Critical Review: Effect of Immunonutrition in Patients with Head and Neck Cancer,” aimed to identify and analyze a recently published scientific article to answer the following clinical research question: What are the effects of immunonutrition in adult patients with head and neck cancer compared to standard treatment? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (EBN) approach was applied for the analysis. Data were obtained from the following databases: MEDLINE, PubMed, Scopus, SciELO, and LILAC, yielding a total of 203 articles. Ten articles were selected and evaluated using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASPe). A systematic review with meta-analysis entitled “The impact of immunonutrition in head and neck cancer surgery: a systematic review with meta-analysis” was chosen for its methodological quality. This article has a Level AI evidence rating and a strong recommendation. According to the author's expertise and the analysis carried out, the commentary concluded that the combined use of immunonutrients can reduce the risk of complications compared to a standard nutritional intervention, so a modulating intervention prevents the appearance of fistulas and reduces hospital stay.application/pdfspahttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/Dieta de InmunonutriciónImmunonutrition DietNeoplasias de Cabeza y CuelloHead and Neck NeoplasmsGlutaminaGlutamineRevisión crítica: efecto de la inmunonutrición en pacientes adultos con cáncer de cabeza y cuelloCritical review: effect of immunonutrition in adult patients with head and neck cancerhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fhttps://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#3.03.04https://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#3.02.21ODS 2: Hambre cero.
