El diseño de la investigación fue observacional, transversal y analítico. La muestra estuvo constituida por 80 modelos (44 masculinos y 36 femeninos), seleccionados en base a criterios de inclusión. Se realizaron mediciones del ancho mesiodistal y bucolingual del primer molar permanente tanto del lado derecho como izquierdo en modelos de yeso con un calibrador digital de 0,01 mm de precisión. En los resultados se obtuvo que la eficacia del método multivariante del primer molar permanente para determinación del sexo, respecto al sexo masculino, las piezas del lado derecho e izquierdo al emplear el ancho mesiodistal se obtuvo una precisión muy alta (Precisión=100%), y respecto al en el sexo femenino, las piezas del lado izquierdo al emplear el ancho mesiodistal se obtuvo una precisión muy alta (Precisión=100%), se halló diferencia significativa mediante la prueba t de Student (p < 0.05). Se concluyó que el ancho mesiodistal del lado derecho del primer molar permanente presentó mayor dimorfismo sexual.The purpose of this research work was to determine the effectiveness of the multivariate method of the first permanent molar to determine sex in the green squad police division of Lima. The research design was observational, transversal and analytical. The sample was made up of 80 models (44 male and 36 female), selected according to inclusion criteria. Measurements of the mesiodistal and buccolingual width of the first permanent molar on both the right and left sides were performed on plaster casts using a digital caliper with an accuracy of 0.01 mm. The results demonstrated that the effectiveness of the multivariate method of the first permanent molar for sex determination, with respect to the male sex, the teeth on the right and left side, when using the mesiodistal width, a very high precision was obtained (Precision = 100% ), and with respect to the female sex, the pieces on the left side, when using the mesiodistal width a very high precision was obtained (Precision=100%), a significant difference was found using the Student's t test (p < 0.05).
