The stage of youth and early adulthood is characterized by the formation of emotional bonds and the strengthening of identity, with self-esteem and emotional dependence being determining factors in the well-being of higher education students. Within this framework, the objective of this research was to establish the relationship between self-esteem and emotional dependence in female students enrolled in the technical pharmacy program at a private institute in Lima. The study was conducted using a basic quantitative approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. The sample consisted of 108 students selected through stratified probability sampling. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Lemos and Londoño Emotional Dependency Scale, previously validated in the Peruvian context, were applied. The data were processed with IBM SPSS 26, using descriptive statistics and Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient, after verifying the absence of normality with the Kolgomorov-Smirnov test. The results showed a negative, moderate, and statistically significant correlation between self-esteem and emotional dependence (Rho = –.469; p < .01), as well as between self-esteem and the dimensions of separation anxiety, modification of plans, and boundary expression, other dimensions, such as affective expression, attention seeking, and fear of loneliness, showed low but significant correlations. It is concluded that students with low self-esteem are more vulnerable to establishing maladaptive emotional bonds, highlighting the need to implement emotional health prevention and promotion programs in educational settings.application/pdfspahttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/AutoimagenSelf ConceptDependencia PsicológicaDependency, PsychologicalSalud MentalMental HealthAutoestima y dependencia emocional en estudiantes de un instituto privado de Lima - 2025Self-esteem and emotional dependency among students at a private institute in Lima – 2025http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fhttps://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#5.01.02ODS 3: Salud y bienestar.
