Renal replacement through hemodialysis is a therapeutic alternative, but it affects the lifestyle and quality of life of the patient and their family members, who play a fundamental role that can have a positive or negative impact on the patient. Objective: To determine how quality of life is related to family functionality in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis treatment at the Francisco I Clinic in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima – 2021. Methods: The study will be observational, descriptive, relational, and cross-sectional. An intentional sample of 90 patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis replacement therapy will be selected between October and December 2021. A survey using validated and reliable instruments will be applied to estimate health-related quality of life through the KDQOL-36 questionnaire, developed by the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Working Group. It is an abbreviated version of the KDQOL-SF, with 36 items, designed for use with dialysis patients, which helps reduce interview time and optimize acceptance.
