La técnica fue la encuesta y el instrumento la Escala de Valoración de la Ansiedad de Spielberger (IDARE). Resultados: del 100% (70); 84% (59) refiere que el nivel de ansiedad es medio; seguido de 9% (6) bajo y 7% (5) es alto; en la dimensión de síntomas negativos 56% (39) es bajo; 18% (13) medio y 26% (18) alto, y en la dimensión de síntomas positivos 61% (43) es alto; 23% (16) medio y 16% (11) bajo. Conclusiones: el nivel de ansiedad en los pacientes preoperatorios del área de Cirugía General del Hospital Nacional Nivel III Lima, es medio, ya que se sienten preocupados, tristes y nerviosos, bajo debido a que los pacientes se sintieron calmados y seguros; y es alto porque se encontraban angustiados e inquietos.The present study of the level of anxiety in preoperative patients of the general surgery area at the national hospital level III of Lima - 2021, had to determine the anxiety levels of the preoperative patients of the General Surgery area of ​​the National Hospital Level III of Lima, Methods: It is a descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study carried out in 70 patients preoperatively.
