Design: The study was a narrative review, without statistical analysis. Study setting: The scientific studies were extracted from the virtual libraries of Mendeley, Pubmed, Scielo, and Sciencedirect. Study subjects: The study included 30 studies published from 2018 to 2022 in the aforementioned virtual libraries. The GRADE system was used to assess the quality of the studies. Determinants: Gestational anemia is the dependent variable, and perinatal complications are the independent variables. Results: 67% of the scientific studies associated gestational anemia with a perinatal complication, with the most relevant complication being preterm birth (56%), followed by low birth weight (53%), perinatal death (30%), intrauterine growth restriction (20%), and low APGAR score (13%). Although half of the studies focused solely on the presence of gestational anemia, greater complications were found according to the level of anemia. The higher the level of anemia, the greater the risk of experiencing various complications. Conclusion: According to the selected scientific studies, gestational anemia is associated with perinatal complications.
