Se adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo, hipotético-deductivo, no experimental de tipo correlacional y transversal. La muestra fue de 233 adolescentes del nivel secundario, aplicando la Escala de Motivación de Logro Académico de Thornberry y la Escala de autoestima de Rosenberg. Los hallazgos indicaron que la motivación de logro se relacionó con la autoestima con intensidad baja positiva (rho=0.23; p=0.00); de la misma manera, se encontraron relaciones de igual intensidad con las dimensiones con valores rho entre 0.20 y 0.21. En conclusión, se puede indicar que a mayor motivación de logro en los estudiantes se presentará una mayor autoestima.This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between achievement motivation and self-esteem in secondary school students at a private educational institution in Villa El Salvador. A quantitative, hypothetical-deductive, non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional approach was adopted. The sample consisted of 233 secondary school students, and the Thornberry Academic Achievement Motivation Scale and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were administered. The findings indicated that achievement motivation was related to self-esteem with a weak positive correlation (rho=0.23; p=0.00). Similarly, relationships of equal strength were found with the other dimensions, with rho values between 0.20 and 0.21.
