Para cumplir esta tarea, estos profesionales deben poseer conocimientos especializados y destrezas específicas en el manejo de equipos y procedimientos. La central de esterilización representa un servicio muy importante en los hospitales, especialmente para prevenir y controlar las infecciones asociadas al ambiente sanitario. Este estudio tiene como propósito identificar la relación que existe entre el nivel de comprensión que poseen los enfermeros sobre el procedimiento de esterilización y la forma en que aplican estos conocimientos en su práctica diaria. Se utilizará una metodología cuantitativa, siguiendo un método hipotético, deductivo mediante un diseño observacional y transversal, centrado en identificar relaciones entre variables. Para obtener los datos, se aplicará una encuesta con un cuestionario que evalúe el nivel de conocimientos, junto con una lista de verificación destinada a valorar las prácticas realizadas en el campo. Ambos instrumentos fueron obtenidos de trabajos previos y presentan una validez de expertos 91.26 por ciento. Con un coeficiente de consistencia interna de 0.75663 para el cuestionario y de 0.704 para la lista de cotejo, se demuestra que ambos instrumentos son fiables para la investigación. El procesamiento de los datos se realizará con el apoyo del software SPSS, que permitirá analizar las respuestas cuantitativas de manera profunda. Los resultados se presentarán en tablas y figuras con porcentajes. Para examinar si las variables se distribuyen normalmente, se empleará un enfoque estadístico no paramétrico y se utilizará la correlación de Spearman para identificar la relación entre las variables.Nursing professionals working in the sterilization unit must ensure that sterilization procedures are performed correctly and effectively. To fulfill this task, these professionals must possess specialized knowledge and specific skills in the handling of equipment and procedures. The sterilization unit represents a very important service in hospitals, especially for preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections. This study aims to identify the relationship between nurses' level of understanding of the sterilization procedure and how they apply this knowledge in their daily practice. A quantitative methodology will be used, following a hypothetical-deductive method with an observational and cross-sectional design, focused on identifying relationships between variables. To obtain the data, a survey will be administered using a questionnaire to assess the level of knowledge, along with a checklist designed to evaluate practices performed in the field. Both instruments were adapted from previous studies and have a 91.26 percent expert validity. With an internal consistency coefficient of 0.75663 for the questionnaire and 0.704 for the checklist, both instruments are shown to be reliable for this research. Data processing will be performed using SPSS software, which will allow for in-depth analysis of the quantitative responses. The results will be presented in tables and figures with percentages.
