La investigación es de enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicado, de método hipotético-deductivo y diseño observacional, transversal y correlacional. La población estará conformada por 110 pacientes críticos de la UCI, de los cuales se seleccionará una muestra de 86 participantes. Para la recolección de datos se empleará la escala del Medical Research Council (MRC) para evaluar la fuerza muscular periférica y el vacuómetro para medir la presión inspiratoria máxima (PIMax), obteniendo así la fuerza muscular respiratoria. Los datos serán recogidos en pacientes después de su extubación, lo que permitirá analizar la relación entre ambas variables.The main objective of this study is to determine the relationship between peripheral muscle weakness and respiratory muscle strength in adult patients extubated from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital in Lima, 2025. The research is quantitative, applied, hypothetical-deductive, and observational, cross-sectional, and correlational in design. The population will consist of 110 critically ill ICU patients, from which a sample of 86 participants will be selected. Data will be collected using the Medical Research Council (MRC) scale to assess peripheral muscle strength and a vacuum gauge to measure maximum inspiratory pressure (PIMax), thus obtaining respiratory muscle strength.
