Work stress and professional performance of nursing staff in the emergency area of the San Gabriel Clinic in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: The relationship between job stress and professional performance of nursing staff has been the subject of study by numerous researchers. The results of these studies show that there is a significant relationship between the two factors. That is, job stress can have a negative impact on the professional performance of nurses, which can lead to risks to patient safety and to the quality of care provided to patients. Objective: "To determine how work stress is related to the professional performance of emergency nurses". Methodology: It will have a quantitative, applied, non-experimental, correlational, cross-sectional design. The study population will consist of a total of 73 nursing professionals and technicians. The survey technique will be used for data collection and the questionnaire will be used as an instrument. Likewise, the results will be collected, entered, codified and processed with the help of Microsoft Excel, to be later tabulated and processed with SPSS 25 software.

Introducción: La relación entre el estrés laboral y el desempeño profesional del personal de enfermería ha sido objeto de estudio de numerosos investigadores. Los resultados de estos estudios muestran que existe una relación significativa entre ambos factores. Es decir, el estrés laboral puede tener un impacto negativo en el desempeño profesional del personal de enfermería, lo que puede conllevar riesgos para la seguridad de los pacientes y para la calidad de la atención que se les presta. Objetivo: “Determinar cómo el estrés laboral se relaciona con el desempeño profesional del personal de enfermería del área de emergencias”. Metodología: Tendrá un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicado y de diseño no experimental, correlacional con corte transversal. La población de estudio estará constituida por un total de 73 profesionales de enfermería. Para la recolección de datos se utilizará la técnica de la encuesta y como instrumento el cuestionario. Asimismo, los resultados se recogerán, ingresara, codificara y procesarán con ayuda del Microsoft Excel, para posteriormente ser tabulado y procesado con el software SPSS 25.
