Publicación Acceso abierto Constantes corpusculares en niños en edad escolar de una zona rural(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-09-08) Alí Quispe, Nancy; Ureta Tucto, Yina; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelThe present research, entitled “Corpuscular Constants in School-Aged Children from a Rural Area”, had as its general objective to determine the values of corpuscular constants in 428 children from a rural area of the district of El Carmen, Chincha. This was a descriptive, cross-sectional, observational, exploratory, and correlational study. Measurements were carried out for the number of red blood cells using the Gower method, hemoglobin by the cyanmethemoglobin method, and hematocrit by microhematocrit. From these, the values of red blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCH, MCHC, and MCV were obtained, yielding the following results: For red blood cell count with decreased values, 70% corresponded to children aged 2 to 5 years, and 83% to the female gender. For hemoglobin with decreased values, 50% were found in the 2–5 year age group, and 37% in the female gender. For hematocrit with decreased values, 50% corresponded to ages 2–5 years, and 37% to the female gender. For MCV, increased values were observed in 11% of children aged 6 to 11 years, and in 13% of the female gender. Regarding MCH, increased values were found in 30% of children aged 6 to 11 years, and in 30% of the male gender. With respect to MCHC, decreased values were identified in 6.7% of children aged 2 to 5 years, and in 2.9% of the female gender. In conclusion, a correlation was found between MCV and MCH, as well as between MCHC and MCH, but not between MCHC and MCV.
