Lima – 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-22) Alarcón Buitrón, James Virgilio; Reynoso Cruz, Lourdes; Ñañez del Pino, DanielThe objective of this research was to evaluate the most commonly used medicinal plants as an alternative treatment for stomach pain among the population attending the José Carlos Mariátegui model market. The deductive method was employed, with a quantitative approach, non-experimental and cross-sectional design. Data processing was carried out using the statistical program SPSS version 25, and tables and graphs were created with Excel 2019. Results: The survey conducted with 384 users of the José Carlos Mariátegui market showed that the most commonly used medicinal plants to treat stomach pain are anise, mint, and oregano. The most preferred parts of the plant were seeds, stems, and leaves, and infusion was the most frequent method of preparation. Regarding therapeutic properties, more than 50% of respondents indicated that the properties are due to the active compounds present in the plants. Additionally, the plants were considered safe, as they did not cause adverse reactions. Stomach pain caused by indigestion and flatulence were the most common reasons for using medicinal plants.
