Self-care and complications of peritoneal dialysis patients in a hospital institution in the northeastern region of La Selva

Peritoneal dialysis is a substitute treatment for kidney replacement, self-care of the patient on peritoneal dialysis is essential to prevent complications. Objective: To relate self-care and complications in the Peritoneal Dialysis patient in a Hospital Institution in the Northeast Region of La Selva, 2022. Material and method: The approach will be quantitative, descriptive; Observational Non-experimental type; cross-sectional correlational design. The population is made up of 50 patients who attend the peritoneal dialysis program. To measure self-care, our first variable, the questionnaire has construct validity, through the consensus of 3 expert nursing professionals. The instrument presented a validity of 0.65, considered acceptable. To measure complications, there is a second instrument that had content validity, validated by 3 nephrology specialists whose result was 0.89. The questionnaire that measures the Self-care variable had a Cronbach's Alpha index, 0.944 > 0.7, the data collection form that measures the peritoneal dialysis complications variable obtained a Cronbach's Alpha index, 0.87 greater than 0.9. The instruments will be applied in person, with prior informed consent. A descriptive and correlational statistical analysis will be carried out.
