Methodology: Descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 100 older adults. The instruments used were the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) by Folstein, which evaluates cognitive function, and the modified Katz Index, which evaluates physical activity. The data were processed using the SPSS Version 23 statistical program. Results: 68% of participants were independent, 32% required assistance, and no participants were dependent for physical activities. On the other hand, 92% were independent in personal appearance, while 35% required assistance to move within their environment. Significant differences were observed in all dimensions. Regarding cognitive status, 61% had no cognitive impairment, 25% had mild to moderate dementia, and 14% had possible cognitive decline. However, a relationship was found between activities of daily living and cognitive status (p=0.0001).
