Ítem Acceso abierto Psychomotor development and nutritional status in children ages 2 To 5 in the health center Peru III Zona, San Martin De Porras, Lima 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-03-12) Alva Segura, Enmidia Nataly; Hinostroza Aranda, Karen Carol; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethObjective: To determine the psychomotor development and nutritional status in children aged 2 to 5 years at the Peru III Zone Health Center, San Martin de Porras, Lima 2018. Materials and Methods: A descriptive quantitative, non-experimental approach was used. The population consisted of 318 children, with a sample of 71 children aged 2 to 5 years. The instruments used were the Child Growth Patterns to measure nutritional status (weight/height) and the Psychomotor Development Test (TEPSI); both instruments were validated by the Ministry of Health. Results: Regarding nutritional status, the following results were obtained: According to the weight-for-age indicator, 76.1% were normal, 22.5% overweight, and 1.4% undernourished; according to the height-for-age indicator, 93% were normal, 4.2% were short stature, and 2.8% were tall; according to the weight-for-height indicator, 63.4% were normal, 21.1% were obese, and 15.5% were overweight. Regarding psychomotor development, of the 100% (71 children), 87.3% showed normal development, followed by 8.5% with delayed development, and 4.2% at risk. According to the sub-test, the greatest delay was found in the motor skills sub-test with 9.9%, followed by coordination with 8.5%, and language with 7%. Conclusion: In the evaluation of psychomotor development and nutritional status of children aged 2 to 5 years at the Peru III Zone Health Center, it was observed that the majority of children showed normal development in both variables, indicating that the nursing strategies or functions are effective.
