Ítem Acceso abierto Cognitive impairment and dependence on activities of daily living of patients with schizophrenia at Hospital II-E Huariaca, Cerro De Pasco, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-13) Alvarado Dorregaray, Tamy Mery; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaSchizophrenia is a mental illness classified as severe, it is estimated that 21 million people in the world suffer from it, in Peru it is estimated that 280,000 people were diagnosed, it affects the cognitive processes responsible for normal mental functioning, the patient with schizophrenia presents alterations in the areas of thought, language, perception, memory, etc., as a consequence the resolution capacity of the basic activities of daily living (ABVD) such as eating, bathing, moving, dressing, is modified, requiring partial or total help to carry them out, then it becomes a person with a certain degree of dependence. The research method is deductive, with a quantitative approach, the type of research is basic, with a non-experimental observational design, descriptive correlational cross-sectional. The population is 50 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, hospitalized in the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center for Chronic Patients of Hospital II-E Huariaca. The instruments are the Brief Neuropsychological Assessment Scale in Spanish (NEUROPSI) to assess cognitive impairment, and the Barthel Index that assesses the degree of dependence based on ADLs.
