Ítem Acceso abierto Evaluation of the distance between the lower dental canal and the apices of the lower molars in cone beam computed tomography. Lima 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-05) Alvarez Lastarria, Lourdes Alexandra; Mezzich Gálvez, Jorge LuisThe objective of this study was to evaluate the average distance between the inferior dental canal and the apices of the lower molars in cone beam computed tomography scans, Lima 2023. The methodology used was deductive, with a quantitative approach, basic type, observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective design. The study sample consisted of 80 tomography scans from patients aged 20 to 50 years from the 'Imágenes' Radiological Center. Measurements were made using the ICAT VISION tomography software. The results showed that the average distance from the inferior dental canal to the mesial and distal apex of the first lower molar was 5.52 ± 2.21 mm and 5.05 ± 2.27 mm, respectively; for the mesial and distal apex of the second lower molar, it was 3.46 ± 2.19 mm and 2.77 ± 2.02 mm, respectively. It was concluded, using the Mann-Whitney U test, that there were no significant differences (p > 0.05) in the average distances of the first lower molar between the left and right sides, and similarly for the second lower molar between the left and right sides. Regarding sex, no significant differences were found (p > 0.05); however, for the age group, the Kruskal-Wallis H test indicated significant differences (p ≤ 0.05).
