It is the skills of the healthcare personnel to care for the premature newborn that will help reduce morbidity and mortality, as well as possible future sequelae in these children. The kangaroo mother method is one of the main techniques that is used as an alternative for the care of stable premature infants, since it will help thermoregulation, opportune growth, fundamentally supporting exclusive breastfeeding and, most importantly, strengthening and affective bond between parents-neonate., thus reducing the days of hospital stay. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice of the nursing staff on the kangaroo mother method in the premature newborn of the neonatology service of a Specialized Institute of Lima - 2023.
