Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge about basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation in nursing professionals from a private clinic in Lima, 2020.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-02-29) Andía Correa, Raúl Gianfranco; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethHeart attacks remain a significant global public health issue, with 6.15 million deaths, the majority (70%) due to ischemic heart disease, 20% from cardiomyopathies, and 10% from arrhythmias. CPR is a procedure used by emergency professionals to revive a heart that has stopped beating due to an electrical problem, which causes the cardiac system to stop circulating blood throughout the body, including to the brain. Early application of CPR can increase the chance of survival. Nurses are often the first healthcare professionals to identify a cardiac arrest victim, whether in or out of hospital, and must possess the knowledge to provide effective CPR. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge about basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) among nursing professionals at a private clinic in Lima. Materials and Methods: This is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study. Data collection will use the survey technique, with a structured questionnaire developed by César André Gálvez Centeno to measure knowledge about basic CPR among nursing professionals.
