Regarding the methodological design, 50% quasi-experimental studies, Mexico (02), Spain, Cuba and Colombia. 30% are systematic reviews carried out in Spain (02) and the Netherlands, with 10% being descriptive studies belonging to Brazil. And another 10% to controlled trials belonging to Sweden. Conclusions: 70% of the studies show the effectiveness of self-care programs, because they reduce complications, through education promoting healthy lifestyles, improving quality of life, decrease in the involvement of diabetic foot, decrease in economic cost , reduces the risk level of diabetic foot. 30% conclude that it is not effective because it does not have high-quality research that affirms the reduction of diabetic foot complications, due to uncontrolled methodological designs and the small population studied.
