Ítem Acceso abierto Stress and work performance in nurses of the emergency service of a hospital in Lima, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-04-27) Arce Vega, Flor Yuliana; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaNowadays, stress is described as a health and social problem that is frequently evidenced in nursing professionals whose chronicity brings as a consequence an evident affectation of work performance. Objective: To determine how stress is related to work performance in emergency department nurses. Methods: Applied study using the hypothetical-deductive, non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional method on a sample of 80 nursing technicians and graduates, using the nursing stress scale and the work performance questionnaire as data collection instruments. Results: The stress reflected by the nurses of the service covered medium levels in 71.2%, as well as the work performance showed a medium level in 63.8% of the participants. As for Spearman's correlation coefficient, it totaled at a value of -0.721 with a significance of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusions: There is a high and negative association between both study variables, being important its approach to decrease stress levels in professionals, increase performance, productivity and hospital service delivery.
