Objective: To determine the relationship between self-medication for anxiety symptoms in the context of COVID-19 among users visiting a drugstore in Los Olivos, Lima, in 2021. Methodology: The study was deductive, basic, with a quantitative approach, and a non-experimental, descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional, and prospective design. Spearman's Rho analysis was performed to validate the hypothesis. Results: Of 384 users, 93.5% were aged 18–59, and 53.4% were female. It was determined that as anxiety symptoms increased, self-medication sometimes increased from 9.0% to 21.1%. A similar case was observed for self-medication by personal initiative, where the increase was from 7.5% to 33.3%. Self-medication without a medical prescription increased from 15.8% to 47.7%. The consumption of anxiolytics or antidepressants increased from 0.8% to 26.3% due to the rise in anxiety symptoms. Conclusion: A moderate relationship was determined to exist between self-medication for anxiety symptoms in the context of COVID-19 among users visiting a drugstore in Los Olivos, Lima, in 2021.
