Lima -Perú(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-04) Arzapalo Ochoa, Yadira Estefany; Oyarce Alvarado, ElmerThe objective of this research was to identify Potential Drug-Drug Interactions (PDDIs) in medical prescriptions for adult COVID-19 patients with comorbidities at the Huaycán Hospital from 2021 to 2022, Lima, Peru. Method: The research was applied type, retrospective, observational-cross-sectional. The general sample consisted of 78 clinical records that met the study criteria, obtained through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Data collection was performed using Microsoft Excel, and two databases were used for analysis: Drugs Interactions and Medscape Interaction Checker. A total of 78 clinical records were analyzed, of which 55 presented drug interactions, resulting in a total of 485 interactions. The most frequent were pharmacodynamic interactions (84.3%). The most frequent severity level found using the Drugs Interactions database was moderate severity (69.9%), and according to the Medscape Interaction Checker database, the most frequent severity level was 'closely monitor' (62.8%). Analysis of the interactions showed that the most frequent PDDIs were: Omeprazole–Atorvastatin (5.2%), Dexamethasone–Salbutamol (4.7%), Salbutamol–Beclomethasone (4.7%), Methylprednisolone–Salbutamol (4.1%), and Dexamethasone–Atorvastatin (3.7%), among others. Conclusion: Potential drug interactions were successfully identified in COVID-19 patients at Huaycán Hospital within the medical prescriptions evaluated in the patients' clinical records in the COVID-19 area.
