Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of five-level triage systems in improving flow in emergency care(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-05-19) Vidales Chacaliaza, Rosario Alejandra; Ascoy Davalos, Iscra Marcela; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethMaterial and methods: Systematic observational and retrospective quantitative review, subjected to critical selection, using the Grade evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence, found in the following databases: Pubmed, Epistemonikos, Sciencedirect, Medline. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 90% (n= 9/10) are systematic reviews, 10% (n= 1/10) are randomized controlled trials that come from the countries of Australia (20%), Costa Rica (20% ), Sweden (20%), Germany (10%), Canada (10%), USA (10%) and Norway (10%). Results: We show that throughout the world hospital congestion in Emergency services is getting worse and as an effect the waiting time for user care is prolonged, revealing with evidence in the present study that there is a lack of knowledge about the potential effects on the implementation of triage systems for classification into the five levels with valid and reliable methods to reduce waiting time and patient congestion in emergency services by adopting the ideal system to the real need. Conclusion: The reviewed studies on triage systems have a positive effect on reducing waiting times in general, guaranteeing care in reduced time.
