    Critical review: effect of vitamin d supplementation in tuberculosis patients

    Tuberculosis is an infectious disease transmitted via the respiratory system. This secondary research, titled "Effect of vitamin D supplementation in tuberculosis patients," aimed to determine the nutritional effects of oral supplementation in tuberculosis patients. Clinical studies on the efficacy of vitamin D supplementation in tuberculosis patients were reviewed using the Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology. The search for information was conducted in PUBMED, MEDLINE, SCIELO, SCOPUS, SCIENCE DIRECT, with 96 articles found. Twenty articles were selected and evaluated using the CASPE critical reading tool, with one article selected that provided evidence in response to the clinical question, having an evidence level I and recommendation grade I, according to the researcher’s expertise. The critical commentary concludes that tuberculosis is relevant for research by nutritional health professionals and others, as it helps understand various publications on vitamin D supplementation in tuberculosis patients worldwide and nationally.
