Ítem Acceso abierto Exercise tolerance and dyspnea in patients with pulmonary fibrosis at the primary care center ii of la oroya-2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-23) Ayala Santos, Karen; Diaz Mau, Aimee YajairaPulmonary fibrosis is a chronic interstitial disease that causes damage to lung tissue, leading to inflammation and scarring around the air sacs. The fibers, which are initially more elastic, become less flexible, reducing the spaces where gas exchange previously occurred. This scarring makes it more difficult to distribute oxygen throughout the body. The disease is characterized by a progressive reduction in respiratory function, causing exercise intolerance, dyspnea, sedentary behavior, and deteriorating quality of life. One way to measure exercise tolerance in relation to dyspnea in pulmonary fibrosis patients is through the 6-minute walk test (6MWT). To quantify dyspnea, the mMRC scale is used to measure the patient’s aerobic capacity.
