Ítem Acceso abierto Serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels and their relationship with body mass index in adults at the Pucusana health center 2020.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-03) Ballarta Rado, Carmen Amelia; Borja Velezmoro, Gustavo AdolfoThis research is driven by the alteration of nutritional status in individuals, which coexists in developed countries due to industrialization and the globalization of markets, along with reduced energy expenditure. This leads to higher cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the body. The objective of this analysis was to relate cholesterol and triglyceride levels with body mass index (BMI) in adults at the Pucusana Health Center in 2020. A hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative approach was used. This was a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational descriptive study, analyzing medical records of 285 participants, applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Spearman's correlation analysis was used for cholesterol levels and BMI, yielding Rho = 0.306, and for triglyceride levels and BMI, yielding Rho = 0.373, with statistical significance of 0.000. A low positive correlation was found between cholesterol and triglyceride levels with BMI in adults at the Pucusana Health Center in 2020.
