Burnout in the nursing staff of the sterilization center of the national teaching Hospital Madre Niño San Bartolome-2020, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-11-15) Andres Tenasoa, Flor Mercedes; Bastidas Solis, Miriam Cecilia
Burnout, also known as occupational burnout, refers to emotional deterioration caused by high levels of stress and a lack of motivation to work. This term was coined in 1974 by Herbert J. Freudenberger, a psychoanalyst, in response to the intense professional lives of healthcare workers. This overload of stress jeopardizes their health, affecting their relationships in the workplace, and impacting them psychologically and mentally. As the condition progresses, it deteriorates mental faculties, leading individuals to feel worthless, causing confusion in the workplace and resulting in poor care for patients. Maslach and S. Jackson (1981) studied this syndrome as a situation in which an individual, as a person and as part of the psyche, reflects a state of anxiety or decline in their work. This syndrome is particularly prevalent among those who have caregiving roles, and it is described through three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and lack of personal accomplishment.

Emotional impact of COVID-19 and work performance in the nursing staff of the intensive care unit of a hospital in Lima 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-01-29) Quispe Bernachea, Elizabeth Natali; Bastidas Solis, Miriam Cecilia
This research arises from the need to highlight the emotional impact on the job performance of intensive care nursing staff during the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus. At the end of 2019, a new coronavirus causing pneumonia was identified in Wuhan, China. The World Health Organization (WHO) named the causative agent Coronavirus 2, responsible for COVID-19. It quickly spread locally and then globally, plunging all countries into an unprecedented health emergency. This situation not only strained healthcare systems but also directly affected healthcare personnel, who were overwhelmed by the high demand. Therefore, this research aims to determine the emotional impact on the job performance of nursing professionals in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This is a non-experimental, descriptive, and correlational study, with a sample of 80 nurses working in critical care units. The technique employed is the survey, using self-administered questionnaires for both variables: the DASS Scale and the Job Performance Record, both statistically validated through Cronbach's alpha. Descriptive statistics will be represented through figures and tables, while inferential statistics will use Spearman's Rho.
