Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of hydrocolloid dressings in the healing of pressure ulcers in adult patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-02-17) Becerra Inchicaqui, Gabriela Maryelena; Camones Presentación, Betty Elizabeth; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MaríaObjective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of using hydrocolloid dressings in the healing of pressure ulcers in adult patients. Material and Methods: The systematic review of 10 scientific articles found on the effectiveness of hydrocolloid dressings in the healing of pressure ulcers in adult patients were sourced from the following databases: Cochrane, Lilacs, Scielo, Medline, Pubmed, and Epistemonikos. All of them were analyzed according to the GRADE scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 20% (2/10) were systematic reviews with meta-analysis, 40% (4/10) were systematic reviews, 20% (2/10) were meta-analyses, and 20% (2/10) were clinical trials. The systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical trials show that, of the 10 articles reviewed, 70% (7/10) indicate that hydrocolloid dressings are effective in the healing of pressure ulcers in adult patients, while 30% (3/10) show no significant differences between hydrocolloid dressings and other dressings. Conclusions: In 7 out of 10 articles, the effectiveness of hydrocolloid dressings in the healing of pressure ulcers in adult patients is evident. In 3 out of 10 articles, no significant differences are shown between hydrocolloid dressings and other dressings for the healing of pressure ulcers in adult patients.
