    Emotional intelligence and depressive symptomatology in workers of the Central Market of Callao, 2023

    The objective of this research was to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence and depressive symptoms in workers from the Mercado Central del Callao. A non-experimental, quantitative, correlational, and cross-sectional research design was used. A sample of 240 workers from the Mercado Central del Callao was selected, and they were assessed with the Beck Depression Inventory II and the BarOn Emotional Intelligence Inventory. The results showed a clear correlation between emotional intelligence and depressive symptoms (rho = -0.54; p < 0.01), as well as with the dimensions of emotional intelligence (p < 0.01). This led to the conclusion that higher emotional intelligence is associated with fewer depressive symptoms.
