Lima 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-02-03) Bernaola Castillo, Lisset Yessica; Félix Véliz, Luis Miguel VisitaciónThis research was conducted with the objective of "determining the medicinal plants used by residents of the Horacio Zevallos Gámez settlement in respiratory ailments." Method: The methodology applied had a quantitative approach, was basic in type, deductive in method, with a non-experimental design, cross-sectional, and descriptive level. The sample consisted of 118 adults who use medicinal plants for respiratory ailments. An instrument was designed and applied, which was validated by expert judgment. Results: Demographic data revealed that 55.9% of the population belong to the female gender, and 31.4% are in the age range of 50 to 59 years, with 35.6% having a secondary education level. A total of 55.1% regularly use medicinal plants, with 69.5% using chuchuhuasi. Regarding the method of preparation, 50.8% use eucalyptus through vaporization. These plants are used for cold symptoms (39.8%), mostly obtained from home gardens (51.7%). Additionally, 55.9% of respondents reported receiving recommendations from pharmacists. Conclusion: The majority of people using medicinal plants are between 50 and 59 years old, with chuchuhuasi being commonly used in maceration. Women in the Horacio Zevallos settlement predominantly use these plants for symptoms of colds and bronchitis, often following recommendations from pharmacists.
