Publicación Acceso abierto Efecto hepatoprotector del extracto hidroalcohólico de las hojas de Valleastipularis L.f “chuillur” inducido con paracetamol en ratas(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Bravo Huaman, Fernando; Sánchez Manrique, Richard Michael; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraThis pharmacological study was conducted to determine the hepatoprotective effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Vallea stipularis L.f “Chuillur” leaves against paracetamol-induced liver damage in rats, at the Experimental Pharmacology and Animal Facility Laboratory, Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener. A descriptive, experimental, and prospective design was applied using adult female Holtzman albino rats. Method: hepatotoxicity was induced with paracetamol. Forty-eight rats (220–240 g) were randomly distributed into six groups of eight animals each and maintained under identical diet and housing conditions. Treatments were administered orally for five consecutive days: Group I received saline solution (5 mL/kg), Group II paracetamol (250 mg/kg), Group III silymarin (50 mg/kg), and Groups IV–VI hydroalcoholic extract of V. stipularis leaves (200, 400, and 600 mg/kg, respectively). Twenty hours after the experimental stage, animals were anesthetized and sacrificed for blood collection and histopathological analysis. Biochemical parameters (serum transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, total, direct, and indirect bilirubin) were evaluated. Results were analyzed using Student’s t-test with significance set at p < 0.05. The control group exhibited hyperemic foci, inflammatory signs, and apoptotic cells, whereas groups treated with the extract showed normal hepatic parenchyma. These findings suggest that the hydroalcoholic extract of V. stipularis leaves exerts a hepatoprotective effect against paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity.
