    Knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding and practice in mothers of children under 6 months who attend the CMI Manuel Barreto, Lima 2023

    Objective: To determine how the level of knowledge and practices on breastfeeding are related in mothers of children under six months of age who attend the Manuel Barreto Maternal and Child Center, Lima 2023. Material and Method: it was a quantitative approach, descriptive type, had a population of 148 mothers; used 1 instrument, for both variables, which was designed by Obregón Rodríguez Jhoselin Tatiana in her research called "Knowledge and practices on exclusive breastfeeding of primiparous mothers in a maternity and child center in Lima", carried out in 2018 and published in 2019 , with a binomial test validation using a concordance table and obtaining a final favor of 0.0008, regarding the Kuder Richardson reliability coefficient. The results obtained were a value of 0.64 for the knowledge variable and a value of 0.62 in relation to the practices variable, which indicated that the instrument had good reliability; Said questionnaire was made up of 16 questions, designed to measure the knowledge variable about breastfeeding, while the remaining 8 questions focused on measuring the practice variable. The results: it was that 51.4% have knowledge about breastfeeding and 48.6% do not know, while for the practical variable, 51.4% was adequate and 48.6% is inadequate. Likewise, in relation to both variables it was obtained that the mothers of children under six months in majority if they have knowledge and have adequate practices (35.1%). Conclusions: it is concluded that the relationship between the variables is direct and moderate, that is, as the level of knowledge is good, exclusive breastfeeding practices are more appropriate. In addition, the value of the calculated significance is 0.000 < 0.05, this indicates that the relationship is significant between the variables.
