    Anemia y efectividad del tratamiento con suplementos de hierro en población pediátrica del Hospital Carlos Lanfranco la Hoz Puente Piedra - Lima-Peru, 2024

    The research objective was to determine the correlation between anemia and the effectiveness of iron supplement treatment in children under 5 years old at the Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Hospital, Puente Piedra, Lima-Peru. The methodology involved a retrospective cohort study, descriptive-analytic in nature, utilizing data from the medical records of 100 children under 5 years old diagnosed with anemia and treated with iron supplements at the hospital between January and May 2024. A non-probabilistic convenience sampling method was employed. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 25 software, with Cramer's V statistical test used to determine the correlation between variables. Results showed a strong correlation between the severity of anemia and treatment effectiveness. While 80% of children with normal anemia showed good effectiveness, this percentage decreased to 52.38% in mild anemia, 56.67% in moderate anemia, and 50% in severe anemia. Furthermore, the proportion of poor effectiveness increased with the severity of anemia (20%, 21.43%, 26.67%, and 38.89% for normal, mild, moderate, and severe anemia, respectively). The conclusion was that a significant correlation exists between anemia and the effectiveness of iron supplement treatment in the pediatric population of the Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Hospital, Puente Piedra, Lima-Peru, in 2024.
