Publicación Acceso abierto Indicaciones más frecuentes del uso de nutrición enteral en pacientes COVID-19 atendidos en un hospital de nivel II Villa El Salvador. Enero–junio 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-10-03) Cabrera Palomino, Lucy; Velásquez Acosta, Pablo MáximoThis study aimed to identify the main indications for enteral nutrition in COVID-19 patients treated at a level II hospital in Villa El Salvador between January and June 2021. A quantitative, non-experimental, observational, and retrospective methodology was used. The sample included 194 patients diagnosed with COVID-19, selected by simple random sampling. The results revealed that protein-energy malnutrition was the predominant indication for enteral nutrition, present in 77.3% of cases. The most represented age group was 51 years or older (45.4%), and 44.3% of the patients were self-employed. Furthermore, the majority of patients who received enteral nutrition were in the Adult COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) (62.4%). In the 18-30 year age group, 80% presented with protein-energy malnutrition. Regarding the formulas used, a preference was observed for isotonic liquid formulas with protein, used in 63.4% of cases, followed by modular liquid protein formulas (27.8%). In conclusion, the main indication for the use of enteral nutrition was protein-energy malnutrition, with a marked preference for protein-enriched liquid formulas.Publicación Acceso abierto Prescripción de medicamentos del Seguro Integral de Salud (SIS) en niños menores de 11 años en un establecimiento de salud urbano marginal, enero–junio 2013(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Cabrera Palomino, Lucy; Ramos Matos, Lucinda Zelmira; Crispín Pérez, VíctorAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO), the rational use of medicines implies that patients receive drugs suitable for their clinical needs, in appropriate doses, and for an adequate duration of time. In clinical practice, most medical consultations end with a prescription. The Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) provides health services to populations living in extreme poverty, although with certain limitations. The main objective of this study was to evaluate medicine prescriptions under the SIS program in children under 11 years of age at the San Fernando Health Center, San Juan de Lurigancho, a primary care facility, between January and June 2013. The study population consisted of 1,214 prescriptions issued to 806 children under 11 years of age. This was a descriptive, retrospective, and observational study, based on the analysis of medical prescriptions, which were organized into databases using Microsoft Office Excel 2010. The findings showed that the largest number of prescriptions were issued for male children (418; 51.9%). The most represented age group was children aged 0–2 years (37.7%), followed by those aged 3–5 years (32.3%). The most common diagnosis was acute pharyngitis (40.3%). The therapeutic groups with the highest prescription rates were anti-inflammatory drugs (39.5%), antibiotics (25.2%), and antihistamines (20.3%). Among antibiotics, amoxicillin 250 mg/5 ml suspension (60 ml) was the most frequently prescribed (50.2%). Oral administration was the predominant route (94.1%). In conclusion, medicine prescriptions under the SIS program for children under 11 years of age were mainly associated with acute pharyngitis, with anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, and antihistamines being the most frequently prescribed, especially oral formulations.
