Ítem Acceso abierto Risk of eating disorders in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus in the medicine service at the María Auxiliadora Hospital, Lima – 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-05-30) Cacñahuaray Prado, Staicy Claudia; Remuzgo Artezano, AnikaObjective: Determine the risk of eating disorders in patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus of the Medicine Service - Hospital María Auxiliadora, Lima - 2019. Material and methods: The present study has a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional approach. The population was made up of 85 patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus hospitalized during the month of May 2019 in the Medicine service of the María Auxiliadora Hospital. The instrument used was the Diabetes Eating Problems Survey, summarized and internationally validated. The reliability of the instrument was carried out through the pilot test, showing a very high internal consistency (α = 0.793). Results: Of 100% (85) of the population, 80% (68) did not present a risk of Eating Disorders (ED), and 20% (17) presented a risk of ED; Likewise, the risk of eating disorders, according to the eating attitudes dimension, presented 81% (69) risk; According to the bulimic behavior dimension, 82% (70) were not at risk; According to weight control dimension, 73% (62) presented no risk; According to the avoidance dimension, 66% (56) presented no risk; and, according to restriction dimension, it presented 99% (84) of no risk. Conclusions: The population of patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, for the most part, did not present a risk of ED; However, according to dimensions, there is a risk of ED in the eating attitudes dimension and no risk of ED was found in the bulimic behaviors, weight control, avoidance and restriction dimensions.
