Materials and methods: Indirect reasoning with a research approach is quantitative, descriptive, simple correlation and transversal since it allows obtaining information about the understanding of nursing staff in the intensive care unit and the daily work of endotracheal aspiration of patients in a hospital in Lima, Peru, therefore, this study is not experimental. It should be noted that the population is made up of 100% of nurses who worked in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Lima, Peru in 2021, with a total of 40 nurses corresponding to the total population under investigation. On the other hand, data collection will be the survey and observation; As a tool, it is a questionnaire (knowledge) and an observation guide (practice), which will be applied to all nurses working in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Lima. Likewise, the tools used were designed and approved based on expert evaluations from the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, the School of Nursing and the Education, Research and Training Units. These data are processed in a matrix table of general data and specific data, using the Microsoft Excel software package and the SPSS statistics program. 22.0
