Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and application of biosafety measures related to biological risk of nursing professionals in the emergency department of the Cayetano Heredia National Hospital, Lima - 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-07-03) Cajahuaringa Salazar, Elizabeth Lourdes; Castillo Rodriguez, Rosario Marcela; Huapaya Pizarro, Cleopatra de AméricaObjective: Determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the application of biosafety measures related to biological risk of Nursing professionals of the Emergency Service of the Cayetano Heredia National Hospital, Lima - 2018. Materials and methods: It is a quantitative study of correlational, cross-sectional type. For this, two instruments were used: a questionnaire and an observation guide applied to the 60 Nursing professionals of the Emergency Service. Results: Regarding knowledge about safety measures related to biological risk, 60% presented a low level, followed by 38% with a regular level; and, finally, 2% with a high level. Regarding the application of security measures related to biological risk, 83% apply them regularly; followed by 10% with low application; finally, 7% with a high application. The findings confirm the correlation, obtaining, according to the Pearson Chi-square statistical test, a value of 10.911, for 4 degrees of freedom, with a p value of 0.028, this being (p < 0.05) of significance. Conclusions: There is a slight relationship between the level of knowledge and the application of safety measures related to biological risk of Nursing professionals in the Emergency Service at the Cayetano Heredia National Hospital.
