Ítem Acceso abierto Family functionality and depression in older adults at the Gustavo Lanatta health center, Comas 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-08-10) Caldas Punto, Silvia Iris; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan HaydeeObjective: To determine the relationship between family functionality and depression in older adults at the Gustavo Lanatta health center, Comas 2023 Materials and methods: quantitative approach, non-experimental design, descriptive and correlational level. The method used was hypothetical deductive. The population consisted of 152 older adults treated in a health facility. The sample was census. The type of test was nonprobabilistic, intentional. Results: the mean age was 68.94. According to sex, 71.7% (n=109) are female and 28.3% (n=43) are male. According to the type of family, 68.4% (n=104) have a nuclear family, 22.4% (n=34) are extended, 3.3% (n=5) are single-parent and finally, 3 , 9% (n=6) is enlarged and 2% (n=3) is reconstituted. 11.8% (n=18) are severely dysfunctional families, followed by 34.2% (n=52) dysfunctional families, 22.4% (n=34) moderately functional families and finally 31.6% (n=48) functional family. 26.3% (n=40) present no depression, 46.7% (n=71) mild depression, 21.7% (n=33) moderate depression and 5.3% (n=8) severe depression. Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between family functionality and depression in older adults at the Gustavo Lanatta health center, Comas 2023.
