Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge about the care of the Port-A-Cath catheter, nursing professional, oncohematology service, Lima hospital, 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-02-28) Calixtro Araujo, Catherine; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo AmadoIntroduction: According to the WHO (World Health Organization), in 2018, over 18 million new cancer cases and 9.6 million deaths due to this disease were recorded. The level of knowledge regarding the care of the Port-a-Cath catheter refers to the information stored through experience, as well as the nurse's expressed response regarding all the information they possess concerning the management of the Port-a-Cath catheter. This includes general aspects, maintenance, use, and prevention of complications. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge regarding the care of the Port-a-Cath catheter among nursing professionals in the oncohematology service at a hospital in Lima, 2020. Methodology: This research has a descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective methodological design. Furthermore, the study will have a quantitative approach. The population will consist of 60 nurses from a hospital in Lima with approximately 20 years of experience in catheterization, belonging to two healthcare services (emergency and oncology). They will be selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling method will be non-probabilistic and convenience-based. The data collection technique to be used in the fieldwork will be a survey, which will efficiently and effectively collect a significant amount of data. The survey will focus on analyzing the level of knowledge regarding the care of the Port-a-Cath catheter among nursing professionals in the oncohematology service at a hospital in Lima. The data obtained will be tabulated and statistically processed using SPSS 22 and Excel statistical software.
