Self-medication is a frequent activity among students and constitutes a public health problem as its consequences, including toxicity, multi-systemic damage, unwanted effects, and dependence, compromise their quality of life. The WHO recognizes the need to educate the population on responsible self-medication practices, designating the Pharmacist as the strategic leader of this educational process. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of learning sessions on the level of knowledge about self-medication in fifth-cycle students of the Medical Technology program at Norbert Wiener University in 2019. Method: A quantitative quasi-experimental study of an applicative level was conducted. The sample selected was 30 students. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 statistical package, employing the Chi-squared hypothesis test to compare the data distribution at the two time points. Results: The results obtained demonstrate that prior to the application of the learning sessions, students presented a knowledge level that was low (50%), medium (38.5%), and high (11.5%). Following the application, the levels were low (7.7%), medium (50%), and high (42.3%). Conclusions: The learning sessions on self-medication have significant effectiveness in improving the students' level of knowledge.
