Ítem Acceso abierto Nutritional status through mini nutritional assessment in elderly adults related to hospital stay in the surgery area in 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-02-14) Campos Calderón, Clinton Walker; León Cáceres, Johanna del CarmenThis research aimed to identify the relationship between nutritional status (using the Mini Nutritional Assessment) and hospital stay in elderly surgical patients in 2023. A hypothetical-deductive method with a basic non-experimental prospective cohort design was used. The sample consisted of 72 patients from the surgery department of the National Dos de Mayo Hospital, Lima. The average age was 69.5 years, with 54.17% female patients. In terms of nutritional status, 50.00% were at risk of malnutrition, 26.39% were malnourished, and 23.61% had normal nutritional status. The hospital stay was prolonged (≥ 10 days) in 52.78% of patients, with an average stay of 12.8 days. A significant relationship was found between nutritional status (Mini Nutritional Assessment) and hospital stay in elderly surgical patients, with a p-value of 0.028 (<0.05).
