Ítem Acceso abierto Coping with stress and psychological well-being in young people in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-28) Flores Marcos, Steven Virgilio; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe aim of the research was to understand how stress coping relates to psychological well-being in young people from San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, 2021. The study used a quantitative approach, employing a descriptive-correlation method and a non-experimental design with a single measurement. The sample consisted of 167 participants who were assessed using the Stress Coping Questionnaire (CAE) and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale. Results showed a significant and direct correlation between problem-focused stress coping and psychological well-being (r = 0.499; p < 0.05), while emotion-focused coping had a significant but inverse correlation (rho = -0.534; p < 0.05). No significant correlation was found between other coping methods and psychological well-being (r = 0.138; p > 0.05). The study concluded that those who cope with stress by focusing on the problem show better psychological well-being, whereas those who focus on emotions tend to have lower well-being.Ítem Acceso abierto Emotional dependence and positive mental health in women who come to the Division of Forensic Psychology of a State Institution. The study used a quantitative, descriptive correlational approach with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 269 women who had been victims of violence by their partners, and who were evaluated using the Emotional Dependence Scale (ACCA) and the Positive Mental Health Scale by Lluch. The main finding was that emotional dependence is significantly related to positive mental health (p ≤ 0.05). The results showed that women with high emotional dependence tend to have lower levels of positive mental health.Ítem Acceso abierto Emotional intelligence and self-esteem in high school students at a public educational institution in Mala District, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-07-23) Eugenio Medina, Yerismina Magdalena; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThis study aimed to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem among secondary school students from a public institution in the district of Mala. The research used the hypothetico-deductive method, with a quantitative, descriptive-correlational approach and a non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 268 students, aged 12 to 17. The instruments used were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (1965) adapted by Atienza, Balaguer, & Moreno (2000) and the Trait-Meta Mood Scale (TMMS-24) by Salovey and Mayer, adapted by Fernández-Berrocal et al. (2004). The results indicated a strong and highly significant direct correlation between emotional intelligence and self-esteem. No significant differences were found based on gender or age, but a significant result was found in the dimension of emotional intelligence perception, where women showed greater prevalence.Ítem Restringido Experiential avoidance and psychological discomfort in school teachers in Metropolitan Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-27) Saavedra Canelo, Jose Luis; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe aim of this research was to understand the relationship between experiential avoidance and psychological distress in teachers from schools in Metropolitan Lima. The sample consisted of 155 teachers, predominantly in contracted positions. The study followed a descriptive-correlational approach with a non-experimental design. The instruments used were the K6 Psychological Distress Scale and the Experiential Avoidance Questionnaire. The results showed statistically significant correlations (rho = .60; p = .00), with a significant relationship between depression and anxiety dimensions and experiential avoidance (p < .05). The hypothetical-deductive method was followed, applying a quantitative procedure without variable manipulation, using instruments only once. The instruments used were the Young Internet Addiction Test and the Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire. The results affirmed that both variables are directly and significantly correlated with a low association (rho=.361; p<.05). The research concludes that adolescents who use the internet more uncontrollably tend to display aggressive behaviors.Ítem Acceso abierto Parenting styles and aggressiveness in fourth and fifth grade schoolchildren in a state school in the district of San Luis, Lima, 2020.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-04-16) Castañeda Ospina, Sandra Cristina; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoTo determine the relationship between parenting styles and aggression in fourth and fifth-grade primary school students, this study was carried out in a public school in the San Luis district of Lima in 2020. The method used was hypothetical-deductive, with a quantitative approach and a descriptive, correlational, and explanatory type of study, using a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. 174 students of both sexes, aged 11 to 12, participated. The Aggression Questionnaire (AQ) by Buss and Perry and the Parenting Styles Scale by Steinberg, adapted for the Peruvian context, were used as instruments. The main results showed a significant relationship between parenting styles and aggression, with higher aggression found in the neglectful style and lower aggression in the authoritative style. Additionally, the predominant style among the sample was authoritative, and it was found that the greater the commitment, behavioral control, and psychological autonomy perceived by the students from their parents, the lower the aggression levels.Ítem Acceso abierto Resilience and depressive symptoms in adults during the coronavirus health crisis in the district of Santiago de Surco, Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-23) Vela Panduro, Perlit; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe aim of this study was to determine the relationship between resilience and depressive symptoms in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in a district of Lima. The design was non-experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive correlational. The Resilience Scale (ER II) by Wagnild and Young and the Beck Depression Inventory II were used to collect data. 161 adults participated, 67 males and 94 females. The results showed a significant inverse relationship between the central variables. Regarding the dimensions of resilience, higher attitudes were found in personal competence (85.7%) than in self-acceptance (78.3%). Regarding depressive symptomatology, it was found that both young people and older adults exhibited higher evidence of depressive symptoms.Ítem Acceso abierto Resilience and depressive symptoms in institutionalized adolescents and young people in religious shelters. Peru - 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-28) Quispe Caballero, Yuly; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe research was developed to determine the correlation between resilience and depressive symptomatology in adolescents and young people institutionalized in religious foster homes in Peru in 2021. It was a study conducted using the hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative approach, descriptive correlational scope, and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. A total of 122 adolescents and young people were evaluated using the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory II - adapted (BDI-IIA). The results showed that resilience and depressive symptomatology were highly significantly correlated (p<.001); the association of these variables described a negative slope (rho<0) with moderate-high strength and a large effect size. The study concludes that adolescents who have adequately developed resilience—meaning personal skills to face difficulties and successfully overcome potentially catastrophic problems—experience fewer symptoms associated with depression.Ítem Acceso abierto Use of social networks and depressive symptomatology in students of a private university of Lima, 2019.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-20) Baños Chaparro, Jonatan Humberto; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThis study aimed to understand the relationship between social media use and depressive symptomatology in students at a private university in the district of Cercado de Lima. The study adhered to the guidelines of a quantitative, correlational, descriptive, and comparative method, and followed a non-experimental, cross-sectional approach. A social media addiction questionnaire and Beck Depression Inventory were used for data collection. The study included 154 female and 65 male participants. Results revealed that social media use and depressive symptoms were significantly positively correlated. Similarly, the dimensions of both variables showed a correlation. The objective was to determine the correlation between social media use and aggression. The study had a quantitative, descriptive, correlational, and comparative approach, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 192 students. The Social Media Addiction Questionnaire (ARS) and the Aggression Questionnaire-AQ by Buss and Perry were used. The results indicate a significant weak correlation between social media use and aggression (Rho = 0.242). According to gender, no differences were found in overall social media use or excessive use, but significant differences were found in obsession and lack of control in favor of males. It was also found that, in general, and across dimensions, no significant differences were found between social media use and age grouping.
