Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between loneliness and suicide ideation in adolescent students of a public school in Metropolitan Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-07-02) Cangahuala Ticse, Martin; Tamayo Toro, Mónica AlexandraThe aim of the research was to determine the significant relationship between loneliness and suicidal ideation among adolescents in a public school in Metropolitan Lima, 2023. It was conducted using a qualitative approach with a cross-sectional correlational design. The study analyzed a population of 555 students from a public school in Metropolitan Lima, although data were collected from 408 adolescents. The instruments used were the Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale and the Paykel Suicidal Ideation Scale. The results showed that 74.8% of adolescents exhibited a medium-to-high level of loneliness, and 63% reported a medium-to-high level of suicidal ideation. The hypothesis test confirmed that loneliness and suicidal ideation are correlated (Rho = 0.239, sig = 0.000), as well as its components, Emotional Loneliness (Rho = 0.180, Sig = 0.000) and Social Loneliness (Rho = 0.190, Sig = 0.000). The conclusion was that higher levels of loneliness correspond to an increased frequency of suicidal ideations.
