Ítem Acceso abierto Emotional intelligence and assertiveness towards sexuality in young people who are treated at a health center in the district of Cieneguilla, Lima – 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-03-01) Carbajal Avila, Gretta Mirella; Jacobi Romero, Dante JesusThis study aimed to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and assertiveness toward sexuality. The study was conducted with a sample of 132 young people aged 18 to 25, who were in the waiting room of a health center in the district of Cieneguilla. The study had a basic, quantitative, correlational approach with a non-experimental design. The Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TMMS-24) adapted in Lima by Huamán (2020) and the Assertiveness toward Sexuality Scale (SAS) adapted in Lima by Contreras (2018) were used for data collection. Statistical testing with Pearson's r resulted in a statistical degree of 0.417 (p > 0.005). The conclusion was that no relationship exists between the variables of emotional intelligence and assertiveness toward sexuality. Thus, this study, along with similar research, suggests that there is no relationship between having emotional control and making decisions regarding initiating, rejecting, or using contraceptive methods during sexual activity.
