Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the behavioral pain scale measured through its validity and reliability in assessing non-communicative critical patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-01-06) Cruzado Caballero, Cynthia Claudia; Carhuachinchay Abad, Marely; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioMaterials and method: Systematic review of electronic databases: Pubmed, Medline, Lilacs, Scielo; consulting the journals Critical Care, Intensive and Critical Care Nursing, Pain Medicine and Revista de Ciencias Intensivos; articles that are in their full version were analyzed; in English, Portuguese and Spanish, subjected to critical reading, using the grade system to assign the strength of recommendation. In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, finding that 30% (03) correspond to Brazil, 20% (02) correspond to Spain, while 10% (01) contribute to Chile, the USA, China and Taiwan respectively. Of the studies reviewed, 80% were cohort studies, 10% were systematic reviews and the other 10% were case series. Results: The total number of articles analyzed with 100% affirms the effectiveness of the Behavioral Pain Scale for the assessment of non-communicative critically ill patients. Conclusions: It was evident in the reviewed research that the Behavioral Pain Scale (BPS) is reliable and valid for assessing pain in critically ill non-communicative patients.
